First release of our next platform tool, template-rs
After we decided to use Rust to build our software, the first thing we did was create a template for our soon-to-be Rust packages. So on July 6th, 2026, we formally released the next template in our series of platform template tools, template-rs, to Zenodo. At the time, we didn’t have any Rust packages to apply this template too, but we right away used it to set up our first Rust package.
Continuing our tradition of creating templates, we used our template’s template t-squared to create template-rs. Unlike our other templates where we had first built projects before creating a template, we didn’t know exactly what we’d need or use in template-rs for the future Rust packages. So our first release is fairly simple and mostly uses some of our general tools that we’ve use in our other templates, but with less Rust-specific setups.
And like our other templates, template-rs will mainly contain things that work for us. But that is still generic enough that others could benefit from it too. Check out the website for more details.
